Alice Louise Carrick

Alice Louise Carrick, née Funkhouser was born March 16, 1940, in Parsons, WV to Lena and Carl Funkhouser.

Alice passed away on August 19, 2025, at the age of 85 surrounded by family. Alice was predeceased by her husband of 63 years Jerry, her brother Carl, sister Phyllis and brother in love Paul.

Alice is survived by her three children, Sean, David and Amy as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Alice was a proud first-generation graduate of Catawba College in Salisbury NC and taught high school English for many years. Her love of baking wedding and birthday cakes, cooking, acerbic wittiness, and her adoration of the English language especially vocabulary will be greatly missed. Sola scriptura, solus Christus, sola fide, sola gratia and soli Deo gloria. Scripture alone through Christ alone by faith alone through grace alone to the glory of God alone.

Alice's Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church on September 13th at 1:00 PM. Per Alice’s request, please feel free to wear blue to her funeral as it was her favorite color and brought her much happiness.
