Andrew Joseph Topa, 79, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on May 15, 2026. He was the son of the late Chester and Mary Topa.

He was born on June 21, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Andy attended Rutgers College in New Jersey and Lynchburg College. He worked with young people in Junior Achievement and participated in United Way events. His first love was playing bridge, and his bridge friends called him “Mr. 3 No Trump!” Andy, also, enjoyed bowling and playing disc golf.

Andy is survived by his wife, Dot H. Topa; children, Michael Andrew Topa and Donna Topa Childress (Thomas); sister, Margaret Sambuca; grandchildren, Tyler Michael Childress and Nathan Thomas Childress; and brother-in-law, Bob Hoffman (Lil).

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Devon James and brother, Chester Topa.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow after the service at Fort Hill Memorial Park. Following the burial, all are invited to continue celebrating his life at Stonegate Clubhouse.
