Carleen G. Womack, 78, of Rustburg, Virginia was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, where she was lovingly reunited and embraced by those who had gone before her.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on September 02, 1947, Carleen was the cherished daughter of the late Carl Walker Glass and Dorothy Weeks Glass. As one of three girls, Carleen was raised alongside her two sisters. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Jennifer Alexa Glass.
Carleen was a graduate of E.C. Glass High School. She was the loving wife of the late James Womack III for 44 years before his passing. She retired from C&P Telephone Company after a dedicated career, where she worked hard to support her family.
Carleen was a devoted member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she found joy in fellowship, praising Jesus by singing in the choir, and loved worshiping alongside her cherished sister and best friend, Eleanor Glass. Carleen’s faith was the foundation of who she was and could be seen in the love and kindness she showed others each and every day.
Above all else, Carleen treasured her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known affectionately as “Nannie” to not only her family but to so many others whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her children, Serena Womack (Louie), Daniel Womack (Melissa), Duke Womack, and stepson Jimmie Womack (Wanda). She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Billie Jean Garrett, Wendy Bomar (Jonathan), Amanda Trout (Shane), Ashley Fleshman (Arshag), James Womack V (Taylor), Dylan Womack, and seventeen great-grandchildren: Aiden, Cyndal, Brealyn, Lillyona, Kaydrean, Sawyer, Aycen, Scarlett, Jackson, Aria, Ayden, Gavin, Kaylen, Jenson, Ainsley, Evy, and James (VI). Also surviving are her loving sister Eleanor Glass, and her beloved side kick Susie Q.
Carleen leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and quiet grace. She will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, always putting others before herself and showing up, time and time again, with steady love, reliability, and genuine care. Her strong will and tireless work ethic were matched by a gentle, creative spirit that shined through her beautiful paintings and her love of art, flowers, and nature. Carleen had a gift for finding beauty in the everyday and sharing it with those around her, bringing warmth, color, and comfort into countless lives. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and the lasting impact she made on her family and all who were blessed to know her.
