Saturday afternoon, August 2, 2025, God called away the soul of Mr. Clarence Duval Smith “Pete, Smitty”. He was born May 15, 1933, in Lynchburg, Va. to the late Roy and Dorothy Parker Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roy Smith and sisters Doris Mclain and Elaine Merritt.
Clarence was a graduate of Dunbar High School. He served as a veteran in the Military branch of the Navy. He worked for 30 years as a Postal Worker-retiring in May 3, 1989.
Clarence was baptized at an early age at Court Street Baptist Church. He was a faithful disciple until his illness. Clarence’s greatest treasure in life was his wife Helen C. Smith of 71 years. A loving couple who was inseparable. Their love never failed!
He was devoted to his family, providing love and support to all his nieces and nephews. He also left a profound impact on everyone he encountered.
The thought of his smile and generous spirit will continue to comfort us as we remember Clarence. A gentle man with a big heart.
A graveside service will be held at Presbyterian Cemetery on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
