Frances Orrell Lineberry, 98, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025. She was the daughter of Rev. S. Roy Orrell and Ina S. Orrell, and the wife of Berlin B. Lineberry, Jr.

Mrs. Lineberry was born on May 31, 1927, in Danville, Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Westhampton College of the University of Richmond, her Master of Education degree from The College of William & Mary and her Education Specialist degree from The University of Virginia.

Mrs. Lineberry was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, Virginia and Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg, Virginia. She enjoyed serving on the Alter Guild and served as a member of the Vestry in Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Lineberry served 25 years as an educator in Spotsylvania Country, Virginia – the last 21 years as a principal. Her teaching career included stints in Richmond, Yorktown, Pittsburgh, PA, and Spotsylvania. In 2001, the Spotsylvania County School Board named the Library at the Battlefield Elementary School in her honor: The Frances Dunn Lineberry Library. In 2008, she was named to the Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals.

She enjoyed keeping in contact with many of her colleagues that meant so much to her.

In 2003, Mrs. Lineberry and husband, Berlin, moved from Churchville, VA to Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg. She served as Chairman and Vice-Chair of the Independent Living Residents’ Council and as a Board Member of the Westminster Canterbury Foundation.

Mrs. Lineberry was a true Southern lady and she and Berlin enjoyed an active life in their 37 years together, filled with social gatherings and travel, both domestically and abroad.

Mrs. Lineberry is survived by her husband Berlin, son Roy Dunn (Libby) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Robert Lineberry (Earle) of Blacksburg, VA and Sandy Greene of Mt. Sidney, VA, as well as Grandchildren Tanner Dunn, Andy Dunn (Dana), Jody Greene, Emily Greene (Kyle), and Richard Irwin-Miller and Great-grandchildren Lilyana Green, Joseph Greene IV, Vivienne Greene, Remedy Dunn and Briella Dunn.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her first husband, Robert Joseph Dunn, son Andrew Orrell Dunn and son-in-law Joseph Greene III.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Westminster Canterbury Employee Assistance Fund, 501 V.E.S. Road, Lynchburg, VA 24503.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Oct 28, 2025 at 10 am at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Loren Drive, Fredericksburg, VA. officiated by Rev. Mary L. Staley of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg.
