Gary Talmadge Overstreet

Gary Talmadge Overstreet, 68, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026. He was born on February 1, 1958, a son of the late Randolph Talmadge Overstreet and Janice Bowman Overstreet.

Gary was truly one of a kind and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. An avid outdoorsman, he loved spending time in the woods, whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying nature. He also enjoyed visiting flea markets, collecting treasures, and working with his hands. A talented craftsman, mechanic, and handyman, there wasn’t much Gary couldn’t build, repair, or figure out. He was always working on something or lending his skills to those around him. His love for the outdoors was also reflected in his work with the park service.

Gary lived a life filled with adventures, friendships, and memories. He shared much of his life with his beloved companion, Beth, and cherished the many friendships he made throughout the years. Above all, Gary was a proud grandfather who loved his grandchildren dearly.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Brittany Konen (Burke); his lifelong companion, Beth Philbrick; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Delaney, and Emery Konen; his sister, Donna VanHall (Ben, Jr.); his beloved bonus family, Joey Philbrick (Katherine), Todd Philbrick (Megan), Riley Philbrick, and Beckham Philbrick; his nephew, Joseph VanHall; his niece, Khristina V. Williams (Mike); and numerous other family members and dear friends.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Gary’s life will be held at a later date.
