James Trammel, Jr., 85, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on May 29, 2026. He was born on April 5, 1941, to the late James Trammel and Emma (Brooks) Trammel in Montclair, New Jersey.

James lived a life marked by service, dedication, and devotion to his family and country. He was a decorated United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran who honorably served two deployments having received the Purple Heart and other commendations and medals. Following his military service, James continued his commitment to hard work and service through his career with the United States Postal Service, from which he later retired.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 plus years, Delores Anderson Trammel of the home; his son, Jayce Trammel {Stacey} and beloved grandson Xavier of Bristow, Virginia. He will also be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, and extended family members, friends, and all who were blessed to have known him.

A funeral service celebrating the life of James Trammel Jr. will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church, Evington Va. Arrangements are being handled by Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Virginia. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

James Trammel Jr. will be remembered for his courage, service, strength, and love for his family. His life and legacy will remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
