Jennifer “Jenny” Wilson Green, 86, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John William Wilson Jr. and Jane Hastings Wilton Wilson.
Jenny graduated high school from St. Margaret’s in Tappahannock, Virginia, and later earned her bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia. A lifelong reader, she worked at the Bedford Public Library and was a devoted volunteer with the Friends of the Library.
A longtime resident of Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, Jenny could often be found arranging flowers for weekly services there. She was also a devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, where she found faith, friendship, and community through the Altar Guild and church choir. In addition, she was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Throughout her life — and even in her final days — Jenny remained full of energy, independence, and joy. She was happiest behind the wheel of her car, setting out to run errands, gather flowers for arranging, or visit family and friends. Whether it was a short drive into Bedford or a longer road trip to see loved ones, she treasured the freedom of staying connected to the people who meant the most to her.
Jenny was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted, who passed away in 2017. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is once again beside the love of her life.
She is survived by her three children: Ann Green Ball and her husband, Greg, of Nags Head, North Carolina; Charles E. “Bo” Green IV and his wife, Donna, of Melbourne, Florida; and William Wilson Green of Princeton, New Jersey. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Madison Caldwell Ball, Walter Ethan Ball, and Connor Charles Green; and by her siblings, Leslie W. Tomlin of Gainesville, Virginia, John W. Wilson III of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and Jane “Dede” W. Dunn of Reston, Virginia.
Jenny will be remembered for her warmth, determination, generosity, and the deep care she showed to family and friends throughout her life. She consistently put others first and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 20, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 314 North Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
