Joe Pete Orlando

Mr. Joe P. Orlando, 84, of Forest, VA, passed away on August 14, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Joe was born on December 25, 1940, in Monclo, West Virginia to the late Frank and Carrie West Orlando.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Mary Ellen Orlando and his two sons, Joseph Paul Orlando and Dana Allen Orlando. Also, two sisters, Deloris Orlando and Mary Kinney (Tom (deceased)) and two brothers, William Orlando (Char) and Tony Orlando (Parma).

Joe graduated from Sharples High School in Sharples, West VA, Joe accepted Christ at an early age and continued his Christian journey throughout his life, later joining The New Jerusalem Holiness Church. He retired from BWXT after 51 years of service.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Brenda Orlando of the residence; his step-daughter, Jaime Hunter of Baltimore, MD; a bonus son, Randy Porter of Forest, VA; step-grandchildren, Tierra Peerman, Gabrielle Hunter and Brooklynn Hunter of Lynchburg; mother-in-law, Mrs. Bessie Peerman, Forest, VA; one brother, Oscar Orlando (Carol) of Shelbyville Kentucky; a special niece, Etta Lynne Kinney Birchfield (John (deceased)) of California; brothers-in-law, Bernard Peerman of Richmond, VA, Kevin Peerman (Debra) of Lynch Station, VA, Dennis Peerman (Wanda) of Hurt, VA, and Oscar Peerman of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Shirley Richardson of Richmond, VA; and a host of other nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Madison, WV.
