Marvin R. Davis, Sr.

On September 15, 2025, Marvin R. Davis Sr. transitioned to his heavenly home. 

Marvin (Bob) accepted Christ at a young age and was a devoted member of Union Hill Baptist Church, of Amherst VA, where he served as a trustee, was a member of the Men’s Ministry, and regular attendee of Sunday School. He retired from Old Dominion Freight in 2005.

 Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Jessie Davis Sr.; wife, Mary Scott Davis; brothers Donald Davis, Cassell Davis, Jessie Davis Jr.; sisters Elnora Davis, Ella Meade, Loretta Austin, and Linda Fleming. Brothers-in-law Jessie Morton, William Austin, and John Meade; one sister-in-law Delores Moody; a granddaughter Hailey Marshall and great-great grandson Kaleb Collins. 

Marvin is survived by his children Gregory Miller (Sheryl), Lisa Morse (Daryl), Marvin Davis Jr., and Kimberly Davis-Marshall (Nathaniel).10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, siblings Isadore Morton and Ernestine Williams, and siblings-in-law Algie Williams, Robert Fleming, Amanda Davis, Arlene Davis, Marie Davis-Woodson (Burnell), and Lorraine Meade (Ronnie). As well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marvin also leaves behind a special niece Evelyn Young, nephew Lewis Davis, close friend Wallace Higginbottom and a special friend Julia Minnis. 

After many years of hard work, he has completed his final journey and parked his rig for a well-deserved rest. He is now on a new journey, traveling freely over heaven’s highways. 

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 160 W. Court Street, Amherst, VA 24501 at 2pm .
