Richard Winston Elliott

Richard “Rich” W. Elliott, 60, of Lynchburg, VA peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Friday, July 25, 2025.

He was the husband of Cynthia “Cendie” Elliott. He was born in Lynchburg, VA in 1964 to the late Alfred and Virginia Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Evora Smith.

Richard was educated in Lynchburg City Schools and attended CVCC for two years. He worked at C.R. Hudgins for thirty-two years. He went on to work at Automated Industrial Tech (AIT) for an additional six years.

Richard met and married the love of his life, Cendie Elliott and they were married for 32 and a half years.

He was a faithful member of Altha Grove Baptist Church and served as an usher for many years.

Richard leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Cynthia “Cendie” Elliott; brother, Alfred Elliott Jr. (Jill); sisters, Paulette Jones and Lula Elliott; sisters-in-law, Darlene C. Younger (Terrell), Verneice Lovelace (Daniel), Yvette Callands (Jessie Wimbish); brother-in-law, Maurice Callands (Priscilla); nephews, Byron Elliott (Charnika), Brent Elliott (Carin), DeSean Callands, Jessie Wimbish, and Derrick Moon; nieces, Cynthia Jones, Lisa Jones, Angela Jones, Jenny Bhatt, Sherita (Rita) Lighty, Latoya Wilson (Steve), Ashley Lovelace, Brittani Callands, and Serena Callands; along with numerous beloved great nieces, nephews, and so many friends and cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Altha Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Anderson officiating and Rev. Dr. Thomas Harper, eulogist. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. There will be a repass at the Church following the funeral services.

Flowers and donations can be given in his honor. Any donations can be made to the Leukemia Foundation.

Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
