Richard Douglas Snyder, 71, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026. He was born on March 26, 1955, in Beckley to William and Betty Snyder, who preceded him in death.
Richard spent most of his life in Lynchburg, where he built lasting friendships and cherished memories with family and loved ones. He worked for many years as a painter and later retired from The Salvation Army.
Richard is survived by his brothers, Dan Snyder and Mike Snyder; his children, Lauren Snyder Marijah Klug, and William Snyder; and his ten beloved grandchildren: Chancellor, Chase, Hudson, Aurorah, Serenity, Aiden, Patience, Maya, Ryland, and Josiah.
Richard also shared a special bond with his longtime friend and caregiver, Nicole, whose companionship, support, and friendship meant so much to him throughout the years.
Richard was known for his fun-loving spirit and ability to make everyone feel welcome. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—a cold Budweiser, watching WWE wrestling, fireworks lighting up the sky, backyard cookouts, and spending time with family and friends. Whether sharing a laugh, telling a story, or simply enjoying the company of those around him, Richard had a way of making people feel cared for and at ease.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and the joy he brought to those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 4 PM.
