Shannon Pettyjohn, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully. She was the beloved daughter of the late Bonicha “Tootie” Counts Dellinger and Douglas Franklin Dellinger.

Shannon was born in Stuttgart, Germany and raised, most of her life, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend who loved her family deeply and treasured time spent together.

She is survived by her daughter, Piper Pettyjohn; her brother, Jacob Counts (Elizabeth) of Lynchburg; her nieces, Maddy Counts and Chloe Counts; and her former husband, Walker Pettyjohn. She is also survived by her uncles, Peewee Dellinger (Mary Joe) and Ed Dellinger (Mary); her aunt, Carolyn Coch; her cousins, Cameron Dellinger (fiancé: Katie) and Toni Nolf; Page Pettyjohn (Piper's Aunt), Clu Pettyjohn (Piper's Uncle), and extended family in Oklahoma, including cousins Chuck, Chad, Clint, and Carla.

The family will hold a simple celebration of life lunch gathering on Saturday, June 6th, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Blue Ridge Community Church located at 2361 New London Rd. Forest, VA 24551. No RSVP Required. If you have any good photos of Shannon, please upload them into the folder linked here by 9am on Sunday, May 31st.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
